I wanted to share with everyone the following announcement which was emailed to provider agencies this evening concerning your option to change service providers. As you may be aware, persons served and their familes were only able to change providers during their annual review process under a new policy implemented October 6, 2005. It appears this policy was rescinded today:

Per David Gootee, DDRS Assistant Director
Quote:
Implementation of the Provider Selection Policy: The Provider Selection Policy distributed on October 6, 2005 became effective immediately upon release. This policy has raised many questions and concerns as provider changes take time to arrange and implement. In recognition of these concerns, we are rescinding the policy of October 6, 2005. We will develop a similar policy to become effective for individuals as they go through their annual ISP review process after July 1, 2006.

Case Managers may continue to submit Vendor Change Updates for all services as they do today.

Thus, it is now apparent that waiver recipients and their families will now again have the option to change care providers should they not be satisfied with their services.

Thanks for your post, Jenifer. This is indeed a significant policy change.

We've received the memo from other providers as well and have now posted the entire text on this board. We will also include it in the Announcements section and in a mailing to all registered users, as there are several other points in it that everyone should read.

We welcome comments from everyone.
